REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT UNIVERSAL J0INT SPIDER

(a) Apply MP grease to a new universal joint spider and universal joint spider bearings.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to apply too much grease.

(b) Measure dimension A between the snap ring grooves.

(c) Install the universal joint spider bearing into the universal joint spider and measure dimension B.

HINT:

When measuring dimension B, clamp the universal joint spider and universal joint spider bearing in a vise to hold them together.

(d) Select hole snap rings of the correct thickness to make dimensions A and B the same.

NOTICE:

  • Use new snap rings.
  • If possible, use snap rings of the same thickness for both edges.


(e) Insert the universal joint spider into the universal joint flange yoke, and then using SST, press in the universal joint spider bearing into the snap ring groove.

SST: 09332-25010

NOTICE:

When pressing in the universal joint spider bearing, be careful not to damage its lip.

HINT:

Use the same installation procedure for the universal joint spider bearing on the opposite side.

(f) Using needle-nose pliers, install new hole snap rings into the snap ring grooves of the yoke.

2. INSPECT PROPELLER SHAFT GREASE FITTING DIRECTION

HINT:

When replacing a spider bearing, be sure that the grease fitting hole is facing the direction shown in the illustration.

3. INSPECT UNIVERSAL JOINT SPIDER BEARING DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY: INSPECTION (2008 Sequoia)+
